24 Cats and 3 Dogs Rescued from Car

LEBANON, PA (WHTM) – More than two dozens animals were rescued from a midsize sedan parked at the Lebanon VA Medical Center after their owner checked herself into the hospital, according to the Humane Society of Lebanon County.

The owner of the car, a veteran, had been living with the animals in the car since January, Humane Society spokeswoman Suzanne Biever said in a news release.

The woman alerted hospital staff that the animals were still in the car when she checked in late Friday, and the cats and dogs were rescued Saturday morning, Biever said.

The 24 cats, all Persians and Siamese, and three dogs, two Cocker Spaniels and a Chihuahua-mix, were taken to the Humane Society shelter where they were examined, vaccinated and dewormed.
